Johanna is an NSERC post-doctoral fellow at the Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She was previously a statistical consultant for Germany's Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) and a visiting post-doctoral fellow at the Fisheries and Oceans Canada's Great Lakes Laboratory for Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. Johanna received her MSc in Environmental Science from the University of Windsor, and her Doctorate in Biology specializing in Ecological Modelling from McGill University.
Johanna's research focuses on using statistical, mathematical, and computational models to aid in environmental management. While there is always uncertainty in ecological outcomes, she believes it is important to use limited, available data to support the best possible decisions. Johanna's research has largely focused on the application of these techniques to aquatic invasive species management, but she is broadly interested in using analytics to enable data-driven decisions.
